Message from Principal Concannon,

Welcome to St. John the Evangelist Catholic School,

St. John’s is a truly beautiful school with a culture of virtue and excellence.  Our students are immersed in a community of grace where the Light of Christ may shine forth and be a place of Encounter for them and their families.  The curriculum flows from the Catholic Faith, as our students pursue truth under the guidance of our dedicated teachers.

Our academics involve a strong liberal arts program, wherein the students read classics, such as The Cricket in Times Square, King Arthur, The Trojan War, and The Hobbit, and study history using The Catholic Textbook Project.  Students have a traditional education and study cursive, English grammar, and poetry.  Starting in kindergarten, the children learn all about their world by way of recitation.  Science and math are rigorous, and, at the upper levels, have honors sections available.  St. John’s has a unique gifted program in partnership with Ray Dass, available for the top-performing students.  We offer a comprehensive intervention department for students who benefit from extra attention in academic skills, such as literacy and mathematics.  Our Morningstar school for students with special needs is offered for grades 1-8, and has a positive atmosphere of love and attention, which is a benefit to the entire school community. 

Our school is one with St. John’s Parish, as students are immersed in prayer, which includes Holy Mass, weekly and on Holy Days, the Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration and Processions, religious education with resources from Sophia Institute Press, and retreats.  Our middle school students serve their community with Christian service projects, and we are blessed to have priests and religious on staff to help foster vocations.
